Fed: ALP to contest Ryan by election
The Labor party says it WILL run a candidate in the coming by-election for the Queensland
federal seat of Ryan, held by retiring Defence Minister JOHN MOORE.
A spokeswoman for Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY says the ALP will run a candidate to
give voters a chance to protest at the Liberal Party's branch stacking.
Labor attracted a 7.5 per cent swing in Ryan at the 1998 federal election, but needs
a further 9.5 per cent swing to take the seat.
